Cat Print Fabric Swaps

If you're running a swap of cat print fabrics drop a note to Cats Who Quilt and we'll post information about it on the Web site.

I get a lot of e-mail from quilters in Australia looking to swap cat print fabrics with others. Megan Fisher writes "The largest internet/online group of quiltmakers in Australia is the Southern Cross Quilters (scquilters). They have an e-group at scquilters@yahoogroups.com. Membership is free. There are currently about 1600 members. For quiltmakers in Australia or New Zealand who are interested in swapping cat fabrics, I would recommend that they join scquilters and then post a message to the list calling for other members who might like to participate in a cat fabric swap. This kind of thing happens all the time, as do block swaps, magazines swaps etc etc etc.So, no, it's not an establish cat fabric swap, but it's a mechanism for achieving the benefits which anyone could implement within 24 hours." Cat Print Fabrics

The above-mentioned Keepsake Quilting catalog is a wonderful source of cat-print fabrics.
Several readers have written about their satisfaction with a company called Blythe Designs: Fabulous Feline Fabrics On-Line. Also known as CatFabrics.Com. They specialize in cat fabrics. They sent me a brochure filled with literally dozens of descriptions of cat fabrics. When you order their swatches they send generous sized 4" squares which are large enough to make quilt patches from. They also carry many older cat fabrics that may not be available easily elsewhere. Mary Pierson writes "We run a mobile quilt shop, Original Creations. We vend at quilt shows all over the country, Houston, Paducah, Ft. Washington, Santa Clara, to name a few. We specialize in cat fabrics (as required by our three feline owners) and had customers requesting a way to get pieces of all the newest cat fabrics as soon as they were delivered to us. We came up with the Kat Kwarterly Klub. It has been going for about 11 months and already have close to 100 people who get a dozen Kat Kwarters every Kwarter (3 mos.) They are the newest fabrics out and we buy specifically for our Klub members. They have the opportunity to order from the samples sent to them at a discounted rate. Years ago, when I created this Web site, one of the first things I posted on it was the Cats from Outer Space FAQ: How to Tell If Your Cat Is From Outer Space or Has Merely Been Abducted by Aliens". The response was tremendous. Thousands of cat owners from around the world wrote to tell me that they always suspected that their cat was from another planet, but they had been afraid to say anything. They were glad that someone finally had the courage to speak up. I see that Hoffman sells a cats-from-outer-space fabric--called "Rainbow Critters." You can bet I bought a bunch of it. It was featured in the Keepsake Quilting Spring, 1999 catalog.
