Iaci Flanders of Houston, Texas writes that when her 9-year-old daughter begged her to sew a cat quilt wall-hanging for her bedroom she had no idea what a decorating odyssey it would beget.
Iaci started by stitching the "Playful Plaid Cats" wall-hanging. "The center pineappples are paper-pieced. The borders were appliqued. I used to hate applique, but after stitching these cats its new big deal."
Once the wall-hanging was up, her daughter said, "But mom, this cat quilt would go great with the wall hanging. Please!" Iaci writes that she didn't finish the bed quilt until after two pregnancies later.
The cats in this quilt were machine pieced. The border was cut from plaids left over from the wall-hanging.
To pull the bedroom design together, Iaci stitched a wall-hanging and pillows from panels by Alley Cat Tales. She purchased the panels at Wal-Mart. What a lucky girl her daughter is!
